Paul Ryan bids farewell to police chief in letter

Because of his service to the community, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan sent Olson a thank you letter for his dedication to the police department. The letter reads as follows:

Dear Steve:

On behalf of Wisconsin’s First Congressional District, I am pleased to express my gratitude for your many years of service. My staff just recently advised me of your decision, and while I regret the delay in sending you this greeting, I wanted to extend my personal congratulations for your successful law enforcement career of 27 years.

Although you will be greatly missed by the Fontana Police Department and members of the community, your many years of dedicated service will not soon be forgotten. I am confident that the citizens of your community appreciate all of your hard work and sacrifice. You truly serve as a role model for your colleagues at the Fontana Police Department to follow throughout their careers.

I sincerely extend all my best wishes to you and your family. Congratulations again on your outstanding service as Chief of Police for the village of Fontana. Your service is greatly appreciated and will be greatly missed.
